Christmas chickens (and rice)

Thank you to all those who gave towards Christmas chickens for Congolese pastors this year. The idea was to give a chicken and a sack of rice to each of the clergy in the Diocese of Goma as well as all of the diocesan staff. This was as a gift to help them celebrate Christmas with their families. There are 58 pastors and 22 diocesan staff and very few of them receive a regular income for the work that they do. 30 of the chickens turned up at the Diocesan offices in the week before Christmas and those who live in the city came to collect their Christmas gift. For the other clergy we sent money to the archdeacons so they could buy their rice and chickens locally. The gift has made a huge difference to 80 families after a particularly tough year for the diocese. Thank you! (If you still want to give click here)

Below L-R are Rev. Chisaganya, ordained for over 10 years, but has just had the chance to finish s 3 year Theology degree; Madame Louise, who heads up the Mother’s Union across the diocese and Rev. Arcade, Goma vicar and school chaplain. Above are the diocesan staff and Goma pastors.
